How to play Fillomino

In Fillomino you divide the board into regions and write a number in every cell. The rule is simple but powerful: each connected region must contain exactly as many cells as the number written in it — a 3 belongs to a region of three cells — and two regions of the same size may not sit next to each other.

The rules

  1. Fill in numbers so each connected region has as many cells as the number it holds.
  2. Two regions of the same size may not share an edge.
  3. Pick a number and drag across cells to fill a whole region in one go — or tap them one by one.

Example board

Getting started: With two neighbouring regions of four empty cells each, none can be 1–3 (wrong size or equal neighbours) — so they must be 4.

Step by step

  1. 222132143

1Split the board into regions: the number = how many cells the region has. The given digits are your starting points.

  2. 2222132143

2Only 2 is legal in this cell — everything else is ruled out.

  3. 22222132143

3The 2 can only grow one way — it must extend here.

  4. 222221321423

4The 2 can only grow one way — it must extend here.
